Former Man United striker Wayne Rooney will lead the MLS All-Stars against Arsenal on Wednesday 19 July at Audi Field. Manchester United legend and current DC United manager Wayne Rooney is excited to prove himself against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal when they visit the US for the MLS All-Stars game.

The Gunners will travel to Washington DC on Wednesday, July 19 to take on a team packed with America's top talent as part of their preseason preparations. With DC United's Audi Field set to host the game, Rooney has been chosen to manage the All-Stars team, meaning he too will have played for, against and coached in the MLS XI.

Ahead of the game, in which the US team could face the Premier League champions, Rooney said he was ready to test his wits against the north London club. Wayne said that he was an All-Star on both sides, for Manchester United a few years ago and then I played for the All-Star Game against Atletico Madrid.

And obviously, being Arsenal, it excites me a little more because it's a challenge. It will be a difficult game, but a game in which we will prepare to try to win. Rooney is by no means the only person excited by Arsenal's summer visit. Fans in the United States relish the prospect of watching the Gunners take on the combined MLS team.

The experience of participating in such an event

Speaking about the match when it was first announced, Rooney said he had a front row seat to see the growth and development of Major League Soccer, first as a player and now as a manager.
