Manchester United fans around the world have switched their attention to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar for the next five weeks as several of their first-team players made the team list for their respective countries. A total of 14 United players were called up.
As the competition draws into the second group stage matches, some united players have played a part in their teams' chances for the tournament, while others are being solely relied upon to help their national team go as far as possible in the competition.
United fans rejoice as he returns with a bang on debut
This United star's situation causes worry for club fans
Red Devils summer signing Christian Eriksen is part of Denmark's World Cup team and has featured in their two group-stage matches. He played in their opening goalless draw with Tunisia which saw them pick just one point.
The second game yesterday ended in a loss to defending champions France, after a frantic and entertaining game from both ends. Eriksen was the driving force of the Danish attack but was unable to inspire them to a win as they crumbled at Mbappe's brilliance for France.
With two games played and one point got, Eriksen and the Danes have it all to play for in their final group D game against Australia. Eriksen has to ensure that Denmark takes all three points in that game for his national team to qualify for the next round of the competition.
