When Erik Ten Hag joined Manchester United in the summer, the club set out to heavily back their new manager with his target signing to implement his football philosophy at Old Trafford. The most dominant target was his former Frankie De Jong, whom they chased down to the final days of the transfer window before opting for the industrious Casemiro from Real Madrid.

But, he wasn't the only former Ten Hag player that they pursued, as Lisandro Martinez was couped up from a move to Arsenal and then their late staggering transfer bid for Antony dos Santos, who had just recently a former Ten Hag player for a ridiculous fee.

Long term contract incoming and he is ready to sign it

Ajax insisted that Antony was not up for sale but United resisted and in with three different bids that were rejected before a final bid of 95 million euros was accepted for a winger with 24 goals and 22 assists in his Ajax career. The price tag caused shock waves in the football world as many pondered if it was a justifiable fee for his output on the pitch.

But that has not fazed Antony who is very determined to shut up his doubters by delivering on the pitch every match day. Antony quickly earned his spot on Ten Hag's team since his move, providing extra flair with his quick feet and tricky which has helped him rack five goals and two assists so far this season.

HOW HAS HE PERFORMED IN THE EPL?

So far he has been a good addition to United's goals in the league this season with three goals from six appearances. He marked his debut with a goal against Arsenal by curling one past Aaron Ramsdale in a United breakaway attack. Surely, he will be looking to add to his tally as the season progress.
