One of the multiple Manchester United main transfer targets played tonight the second leg of his playoff qualifier for this season’s UEFA Champions League. After a tie in the first leg, PSV Eindhoven beat AS Monaco 3-2 in a dramatic game that got them through the next round closer to the group stages.
PSV will now go on and face Scottish side Rangers in the last play-off round for a spot in the Champions League group stages. Even though it will not be an easy task as both teams are very similar in terms of quality, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will give their all to be in the draw in the next few weeks.

Manchester United was very interested in this match because they want to sign PSV’s winger Cody Gakpo, who had declared in the past that if they qualify for the group stages, he will most likely stay this summer: “We must focus on Monaco and try to make it to the Champions League. Then it’s more likely I will stay”, he told The Mirror a week ago.
After last Sunday’s defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, Erik ten Hag realized he needed more attacking players that could elevate his team’s quality and produce more goals. Cody Gakpo was reportedly one of the manager’s favorite options on the wing. He has seen him up close as a rival during his time at Ajax and believes he would help the team. Also, he would only cost around £35 million.
