It has been a crazy couple of days at Manchester United. This Sunday while the Red Devils were playing against Brighton & Hove Albion on their opening game of the Premier League season, news broke out that the club had made an offer to Bologna for 33-year-old striker Marko Arnautović.

In addition to the defeat, Manchester United fans were also furious at the fact that they have been linked with a player like Arnautović, who is passed the best moment of his career and is accused of being a racist. The fans were crazy on social media showing off their anger as they could not believe a club so big as Man Utd was about to sign someone like that.

Today, Laurie Whitwell from The Athletic, reported that Michael Damevski, from North Macedonian descent, wrote a letter to the club questioning their decision of signing Arnautović would correspond to the club’s zero tolerance to racism. But he wasn’t alone, Whitwell also says that a lot of Manchester United fans sent e-mails to the club threatening to cancel their season tickets if the Austrian striker was signed.

The power of the fans

This only comes to show everyone that if the fans come together, they can make the club take better decisions. This also comes to prove that the Manchester United board listens to the fans, even if it does not look like it. Hopefully, this is the start of a more direct communication between supporters and owners so the club can return to the top.
