Many players fell down the pecking other the moment Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag had a full assessment of the Red Devils team after signing on to be the club's manager in the summer. It provided him with a clear idea of how huge the task ahead of him was.
The changes were experienced around the team except for the goalkeeping unit with De Gea given the vote of confidence from Erik Ten Hag that his position in the team was well secured. Ten only brought in backup cover for the Spaniard.
Bruno fires shot at Cristiano Ronaldo after derby win
They called him names, laughed at United but he achieved the unfathomable
The defense was where the major changes were made with the likes of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka chalked off the starting lineup. While Maguire's removal from the starting lineup caused a lot of stares across the fanbase many subjected that Wan-Bissaka was not good enough.
Ten Hag had doubts about the player as well especially as injury and illnesses ruled him out for the majority of the first half of the season. It was even rumored that the club had decided to part ways with him and was looking to entertain offers in the January window.
Fortunately for the England-capped fullback, he was able to work his way to full fitness during the World Cup break and gradually got back into the first team. A lack of regular starters saw him get his chance in the starting lineup weeks ago and he has delivered top performance ever since. He was fantastic in the Manchester derby and blocked all City attacks that came his way. Ten Hag and the fans have been showering him with praise and look set to stay at the club.
