His exit from Old Trafford signal the green light to a team in London, who have been circling United for the opportunity to sign the legendary striker as a part of their new ownership vision. Chelsea was reported interested in doing a deal for him in the summer but eventually didn't approach.
Chelsea's new owner is reported still be very much interested in doing a deal for the 37-year-old striker and will see his free agency as an opportunity to go ahead with discussion with Ronaldo's camp. Ronaldo was rumored to be okay with a switch to London last summer.
With Ronaldo now available on the free agent market, Chelsea will be expected to take the initiative to start talks with and use their Champions League involvement as a bargaining chip.
