Anthony Elanga has opened up about his frustrations at Manchester United and revealed conversations with manager Erik ten Hag. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick regularly relied on the 20-year-old academy graduate last season, but he has mostly been limited to substitute appearances under Ten Hag.

In becoming first team last season, Elanga's 27 games saw 16 starts and three goals, but this campaign he has only seven starts in 24 appearances and is yet to score. Despite the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony and Wout Weghorst have arrived, while Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri seem to have advanced in the pecking order.

Speaking about his lack of media minutes while off national duty with Sweden, Elanga said it was frustrating, you want to play, it's important, but if you don't play, it's not up to me but the coach. Elanga was linked with a departure in the January transfer window, at least on loan, with Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven reportedly interested in the winger.

A product of the Manchester United academy, Anthony Elanga's present is a complicated one. At 20, the Swedish attacker has seen his minutes in the first team drastically reduced. The winger has played 672 minutes spread over 16 games, losing the starting line-up even in the Cup, where he was not called up in the semifinals or the final against Newcastle.

Elanga confirms that in January he was able to sign for Barça

During the winter transfer market, the name of Anthony Elanga was linked to FC Barcelona, according to information from different media. The young Manchester United left winger was not enjoying the expected minutes in the first part of the season and has now confirmed that these contacts were true.
