Former striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged Manchester United to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer. The 24-year-old Nigerian international has been in brilliant form for the best in Serie A this season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions. He has been instrumental in their quest to end their 33-year wait for a league title and has helped them reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli from France's Lille in July 2020, is considered one of the most exciting and promising forwards in European football. United, as reported to the media in November, have identified the athletic striker as a firm target and are mastering him ahead of the summer.

Asked to name any striker United could add to their ranks this summer, Berbatov, speaking to Betfred, made it clear that Victor Osimhen was his favourite. He commented about the incredible moment he is going through, his youth, the great work and passing game he has, his exceptional speed and the goals he is scoring for Napoli which he classifies as incredible. He stressed that if Manchester United go for a forward in the summer, yes or if they should do it for him over all the others.

Despite the Nigerian's exploits this season, United manager Erik ten Hag earlier this month singled out Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane as his preferred target. The England captain is out of contract with Spurs as of June 2024, meaning the Londoners could be prepared to sell him this summer, before risking losing him for free 12 months later.
