Manchester United wanted to bring Harry Kane to Old Trafford, he was one of the main options to reinforce the striker and solve the goalscoring issue, however, the situation could change, which would take the striker away from the club for good.

During the summer there was a lot of talk about the possible departure of Harry Kane from Tottenham, many media and fans believed that the British striker would seek new horizons and that his arrival options were Manchester United and Bayern Munich, as the teams most interested in the player, as well as being willing to pay the great value that Spurs would have put on him.

However, in a drastic change in the negotiations, the London club would have asked both teams to cease their intention to sign the player, as they would not have in mind to sell  Kane, apart from the fact that they would ask for almost 200 million for the striker, a figure almost impossible for the Red Devils to pay and with which their hopes of acquiring the player were dramatically reduced.

This is because in addition to the price imposed by Tottenham, the striker's wage situation is something that the club would have given serious thought to, as they would not be able to keep the £30m he receives per year, so Ten Hag had to look for other options with a lower cost that could arrive at Old Trafford without any kind of hindrance, however, what is true is that United will always have an interest in signing Kane.

Ten Hag praises Kane

In a recent interview with the Dutch manager, he said that Manchester United were keen to sign Kane for this season, adding: "I have a lot of respect for him because he is a great striker, one of the best strikers in history. Maybe he can even be the best striker in the Premier League." Although it now appears to be too late, Erik Ten Hag did not hesitate to show his deep admiration for the striker.
