Manchester United's form this season has not gone unnoticed as more people join a growing list of the club and its exploits in the league to share their reservations. Manchester United sits fifth on the EPL table and has a spot in the knockout phase of the Europa League.
Wayne Rooney who played for the Red Devils between 2004 to 2017 in a recent interview revealed that he has been following the progress of his former club a lot more this season after they brought in highly rated manager Erik Ten Hag to take charge.
This is why fans think Ronaldo doesn’t care about United anymore
They harshly criticized him, now United will reward this player this way
Rooney pointed out that the team's progress is down to their control in games, something he feels has become more dominant this season after the signed Casemiro from Real Madrid. He further added that the Brazilian midfielder offers them more protection at the back while they exert more control in their attacking phase.
Casemiro who joined in the summer has become a mainstay in Ten Hag's starting eleven and had maintained his consistent top performance in the squad. His signing was unexpected for many United fans who were doubtful of his interest till he showed up at Old Trafford to greet them.
The Brazilian has always been a consistent performer since his time with Real Madrid where he dominated the midfield alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kross. Although the pedigree of his new partnership can compare to his Madrid days, he still has ample quality in Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes to fashion out chances for United in games while protecting the backline. Casemiro is currently in Qatar with Brazil's national team as they chase after the World Cup trophy.
