While Manchester United ended the game in a draw against Barcelona, the Red Devils would be fine with the results heading into the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in the coming games. It was a night that delivered a Champions League experience in a Europa League game.

Though both teams have fallen down from their illustrious heights due to several reasons, they delivered a worthwhile entertaining fixture that end 2-2. The Red Devils came into this game with four wins and a draw while Barca won their last five games.

The home side tried hard to exert their dominance in the game but the Red Devils were defiant as they moved at Barca with dangerous intent every time they attack. Xavi's Anti-Rashford plan only work in the first half and Rashford eventually got on the scoresheet to announce his presence, canceling out Barca's lead.

He went on to drive home a second which was given as an own goal by Jules Kounde before Raphinha drew level for the home side. United had a worthy penalty moment ignored by the referee for a foul on Marcus Rashford in the 18-yard box and eventually settled for a draw.

Why was Ten Hag smiling after the game?

The Red Devils manager gave a grin after the final whistle was blown to end the game. Though United would feel hard done by the referee's decision, Erik Ten Hag takes comfort in the fact that more of his absence players for tonight's game will be available for the second leg, which would give him more options and boost his team's strength.
