Cristiano Ronaldo might have been the focus of everyone but there are many to watch in Qatar.

When Erik Ten Hag named his lineup in the first game after Varane's injury against FC Sheriff in the Europa, many fans were shocked by it. United had before his injury consistently had him and Lisandro Martinez at the heart of their defensive setup. 

Ten Hag set off a series of events with the decision to start Victor Lindelof ahead of club captain Harry Maguire to partner Lisandro at the backline. It subsequently signaled Ten Hag's clear stance on the future of Maguire at Old Trafford this season and beyond.

Maguire who has been a consistent start of United since he joined the club in 2019 for a world record fee from Leicester City with over 100 league appearances for the Red Devils. He was a regular feature in United's campaign last season with over 30 appearances.

But he has been subjected to a drastic low appearance this season with only 4 games in the premier league since Ten Hag took over. Although he's been regularly available and fit this season but has been deemed surplus to requirement at the club as a possible exit looks more certain now than ever.

WHAT IS UNITED'S STAND ON MAGUIRE?

Well, according to reports, the 29-year-old English defender will be shown the exit door in the coming transfer window as United do not consider him as a part of their plans. Harry Maguire amid his uncertain future has found solace in the national team as Gareth Southgate backed his old guard to help to glory in Qatar. Maguire delivered a solid performance in England's 6-2 demolition of Iran as he begins his exit audition come January or summer.
