Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is among the players that could leave the Bundesliga giants in the summer amid links with Manchester United. The Dutchman has found his playing time restricted in Bavaria and reports have surfaced from Germany that the former Ajax centre-back is becoming disgruntled with the situation. United boss Erik ten Hag worked with De Ligt during his successful stint in the Eredivisie with Holland giants Ajax.

De Ligt made 70 appearances under the 53-year-old, and featured in their memorable Champions League run in 2019 which ended in the semi-final stage at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur. Old Trafford has been a destination that the defender has been frequently linked with and in 2022, it was suggested that United had held talks with De Ligt during his time with Juventus.

In recent days, it has been suggested that Ten Hag is closely monitoring the situation surrounding his former defender. And Sky Sports Germany have reported that the 24-year-old could leave in the summer, two years after his €67million move across Europe from Juventus. Elsewhere according to Dean Jones of GiveMeSport, United are among the clubs competing with Arsenal for Brentford striker Ivan Toney. The Bees talisman will return from an eight-month ban this weekend when Thomas Frank's side take on Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners are said to have an interest in the England international, who finished third in the race for the Premier League golden boot last season. Jone began: "The first thing to look for with Toney is whether or not he does actually sign a new contract. There’s been a lot of talk around it. But so far, there’s nothing in place for him to actually do that.

Toney's possible hiring

"And then all the talk around the new contract was that would include a release clause, which would need to be triggered in the summer for somebody to sign him. Now at the moment with that not in place, it obviously seems more feasible that Toney is attainable in the summer. "I think there are a lot of clubs that genuinely are looking at Toney, I think that Arsenal and Chelsea are the two main ones. In the background, Tottenham and even Manchester United are having a look just in case the situation could change in a way that suits them."
