The Argentine quickly adapted to life at Manchester and has been a regular feature of the Red Devils lineup under Ten Hag and has been paired together with Varane for the majority of the campaign under the guidance of their manager.

His incredible club form earned him a World Cup call-up for Argentine in Qatar. He joined the likes of legendary Lionel Messi, and other Argentine stars in the national team in their quest for the tournament title.

WHAT DID HE ACHIEVE IN QATAR?

Although Martinez was not a regular starter for Argentina at the Mundial, he  was essential in helping the team get all the way to the final against France. While his United teammate started for France, Martinez was an unused sub as Argentina won 4 -2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in 120 minutes of football. Martinez was in tears as he celebrated with his teammates on winning the historic trophy that saw Lionel Messi score a brace in helping them achieve their childhood dream.
