Sir Alex Ferguson has been characterised as one of the greatest managers not only in the recent history of Manchester United, but in the history of the Premier League. Everything he was able to achieve in a 27-year managerial career was undoubtedly something impressive, which is unlikely to be replicated, but which all fans of the club will undoubtedly remember for all those great moments of glory we experienced.

Ferguson not only won all the titles possible, but also found great players who eventually became great legends of the club, names like Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs were a product of the great opportunity that the coach allowed and also had a great participation in their development, which allowed them to reach their full potential.

However, after the manager's sacking in the 13/14 season in which the Red Devils won their last Premier League title so far, his departure caused a ripple effect throughout the team as the coaches who came in to replace him were unable to do a good job and remained in the job for a very short time.

Similarly some of the "great" players who have passed through the club and who promised to become legends, were disappointing year after year without being able to consolidate with the philosophy of the team or be what all the fans expected of them, so they ended up becoming a big failure; despite that Ferguson would also have a signing that so far he regrets because of its performance.

Ferguson's worst signing

As already mentioned, the Scottish manager was one of the major players involved in bringing world class players to Manchester United, however, Owen Hargreaves became the one signing that Ferguson would like to forget, due to the £17 million price tag paid for the midfielder, who after shining at Bayern Munich arrived at Old Trafford never to show his potential again, his career was plagued by injuries and bad times, making his time at United a terrible disaster.
