A few days ago Manchester United announced the arrival of their number on January transfer target, Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley to add more firepower to Manchester United's attack. Weghorst's deal broke earlier this week and was swiftly concluded.
The Red Devils opted to big him in against Joao Felix and other targets as a short-term solution to their attack woes till the end of the season. The Weghorst signing was triggered following the mutual termination of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract just before the last Mundial.
Bruno fires shot at Cristiano Ronaldo after derby win
They called him names, laughed at United but he achieved the unfathomable
Weghorst previously had a spell in the Premier League with Burnley scoring just 2 goals as the club got relegated. He was then loaned out to Besiktas where he was in top form before getting his World Cup call-up to the Dutch national team alongside several stars.
Weghorst had a very interesting World Cup campaign with the Netherlands team and faced the eventual winners, Argentina in the knockout stages of the competition. It was in this game that he announced himself to the world with the brace that almost sent Argentina out of the tournament but they eventually scaled through on penalties.
The Netherlands vs Argentina knockout game was very intense, especially after Wout's late brace that took the game to penalties. Messi was still furious even after winning and could rely on his former club Barcelona to help him deal with Wout Weghorst when Manchester United faces Barcelona in their Europa League knockout game.
