Erik Ten Hag's United team has so far been threatened in the fluid counterattacking and pressing style of play that saw his Ajax team dominate the Eredivisie and also shock the world in the UEFA Champions League. The team was set up in such a way that there were lots of free-scoring players all over the team with a potent number nine leading the attack.

Although Ten Hag has consistently played Marcus Rashford as his top nine this season in the Premier League and Cristiano Ronaldo as the lead attacker in Europa, United has only scored 26 goals in 19 appearances across all competition so far. Their topscorer in the Premier League, Marcus Rashford only has four goals in 12 games compared to SSC Napoli's Victor Osimhen with seven goals in eight Serie A games.

The former Lille frontman bagged 18 goals in 32 appearances last season despite suffering a hamstring that hindered him in challenging for Serie A's top scorer against Ciro Immobile. The 23-year-old Nigerian striker has been in prolific form this season, firing Napoli to the top of the standing and a hattrick in last weekend against Sassuolo.

The Nigerian has been attracting interest from a host of suitors across Europe with Arsenal and United leading the chase. Although summer inquiries we rejected by Napoli chairman De Laurentiis, Osimhen very much fit into Ten Hag's type of striker, with his physique, sharpness on the ball, and a clear eye for goals like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Robert Lewandowski.

IS A JANUARY MOVE ON THE CARDS?

At United, you never can tell what may change come January as several players could be on the move. Ronaldo moving to Chelsea in January could trigger United's instant demand for Osimhen to avoid any bidding war in summer 2023 as many top clubs will certainly be going all out for him.
