One of the areas of the pitch that Erk ten Hag has been most keen on reinforcing is the full-backs positions. First, he sorted out the left side loaning out Alex Telles and bringing in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord in order to compete with Luke Shaw for a spot in the starting lineup every week. He likes to have two quality players per position to create healthy competition.
On the right side of defense Manchester United currently has Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Ethan Laird. However, the last one is set to leave this season on loan to Queens Park Rangers. It was reported that Wan-Bissaka was the one about to be sacrificed in order to bring another right-back in, but no offers have arrived for him.

Today, Barcelona newspaper ‘Sport’ reported that Manchester United and Barça are currently negotiating the transfer of Sergiño Dest. They say that the Spanish side is asking for €20 million for the young right-back, but the English giants do not want to pay that much money, so they have offered one player to reduce the operation’s price.
Diogo Dalot has been offered in exchange for Dest, but FC Barcelona is not interested in a simple swap deal as they want money because of their financial situation. However, they have not closed the door just yet for the Portuguese right-back. Currently, they are analyzing the bid, but they would prefer straightforward cash.
If the Dutch manager has shown one thing during his first few months in charge is that he wants to implement his Ajax philosophy at Old Trafford. But in order to do this as quickly as possible, he is looking for players he has coached or players from the Eredivisie that he watched closely as rivals during his time at Amsterdam.
