When Erik Ten Hag had his first press conference in the summer, he firmly declared his desire to keep hold of core young and vibrant players in the existing squad as he transitioned into his new managerial role at Old Trafford. He got his wish as they all stayed despite the exodus of old guards that left in the summer. A few of them had bids outrightly rejected for them by the United's board.
It was no surprise that the likes of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, and a few other young talents would be considered a keep part of Ten Hag's rebuild, especially considering his key managerial features of building young teams. Cristiano Ronaldo was also considered a central figure to lead the new era but it has been his English counterpart, Rashford that has been the most exemplary under their new manager.
Complains about refereeing another game, must accept group-stage failure
Disconnection with the strikers, which is why no scoring opportunities were created
Rashford was a subject of a rumored switch to PSG as a part of their project Mbappe, with the Englishman considering a move after a static last season that saw him underperform for the team. His poor form had many United fans calling for his sale but not anymore, as things have turned around massively for both the player and the fans alike.
His impressive rise to form this season has seen him score seven times and provide three assists in 16 games across all competition for Erik Ten Hag. The Dutchman manager has played him as his top nine ahead of his idol, the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo and he has certainly delivered on the backing. Goals against table toppers Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur have furthered endeared his name in the hearts of the Red Devils fans.
Given that Rashford has less than a year to the end of his contract, United are actively working on getting him a new deal soon even though they have the option to extend his current contract by a year. Ten Hag will be very invested in getting his preferred front nine a new contract as a reward for his hard work.
