Manchester United suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Unai Emery's Aston Villa on Sunday evening. The Red Devils were stunned by two early goals before pulling one back via an own goal. But Villa further extended their lead with a third early into the second half, leaving with no fightback chance.
Bruno Fernandes was a big miss for the Red Devils as they failed to create any clearcut chances during the games despite having more attacking-minded players in their lineup. The Portuguese star missed the game at Villa due to serving a disciplinary suspension after picking up five yellow cards this season in the EPL.
Ten Hag not Ronaldo totally has no respect for this player despite his role
He gave so much to the team last season but they treat him badly now
Erik Ten Hag was subsequently forced to go with Donny van de Beek as his number ten, but the Dutchman was ineffective in the game and was eventually subbed. United's attack was lackluster as they failed to string together an attacking opportunity in the game, with a shacky centreback pairing that was partly functioning.
With the Villa game gone, Bruno will be available for first-team selection as United prepares for the next match, which is in the FA Cup against the same Villa team. The game will take place at Old Trafford, and United will be looking to shrug off the last defeat and book their play in the next round.
Ten Hag will be delighted that he has more available options to prepare his side for Unai Emery's Aston Villa visit on Thursday. It will be their second time facing off after the Sunday game with Ten Hag expected to bring back his most creative player to find the chances in the coming game.
