As Old Trafford opened her gates to welcome their fans, the only conversation everyone wanted to talk about was Cristiano Ronaldo's starting the West Ham United game on the back of his Europa league performance, which forced Ten Hag to reconsider giving the Portuguese captain a chance in the Premier League.

Manchester United earned a well-deserved one-nil victory as they battled it out from the start of the game till the final whistle, as every player in red put in the work. Even the 37-year-old European football all-time goalscorer was relentless in his exploit to help United get all three points despite failing to find the back of the net as many had hoped.

Ten Hag's men continue fine run of form with Old Trafford win

A lack of a goal against West Ham for the star man left a sad look on Ronaldo and Ten Hag's faces despite United's win that extends their unbeaten run to eight matches across all competition. Ronaldo's recent start comes on the back of a tricky tense couple of weeks with the manager that saw him get suspended internally for misconduct in the Tottenham game.

Erik Ten Hag however recalled him back to the team after his suspension and has backed him to showcase his class in recent games much to the Portuguese liking. The former Real Madrid and Juventus player was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United in the summer, with a host of clubs considering his financial package as a huge hindrance to signing him.

HOW FAR CAN RONALDO GO WITH UNITED THIS SEASON?

With the season set to be put on hold in the coming weeks, the next few games will be crucial to Ronaldo's fate at United, a situation that Ten Hag is fully aware of as a January transfer to West London for his star player is circling the media.
