After all the backlash on social media from the supporters and fans around the world, Manchester United have decided that they will not pursue the signing of Marko Arnautović this summer. The player really wanted the move and did everything on his part, but the club has already made the decision.
After Sunday’s defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, the ‘Red Devils’ made an €8 million bid to Bologna for the striker. However, this was almost immediately rejected as the Italian side considered him a crucial part of their squad. Their sporting director, Marco di Vaio said that they were not planning to sell him because he is “priceless”.
His brother has confirmed that Manchester United want him
Not only Arnautović, Manchester United also are negotiating with this striker
Even their manager, Sinisa Mihajlović talked yesterday about the interest from Manchester United for his player: “I would be happy for Marko, but I don’t think he will leave. I spoke to Arnautović about the proposal from United. In case he leaves we will see, but I think he will stay”.
Now, Manchester United has to move on fast and start looking for other attacking options. All the criticism by the fans on social media may have helped the club’s board to realize that only world-class players should be playing for United. It will be a tough task for the club to find a striker available in the last three weeks of the market.
